VREP-Primer
Vapor Reducing Epoxy Primer
| DESCRIPTION: Vapor Reduction LLC VREP-Primer is a two component, 100% solids coating specially formulated to reduce moisture vapor transmission that causes adhesion problems of most Flooring systems. VREP-Primer is a unique blend of epoxy resins and specially formulated curing agents that has excellent chemical and abrasion resistance and is compatible with most 100% solids epoxy, other polymeric top coats, primers for other floor finishes. USES: Vapor Reduction LLC VREP-Primer is primarily used as a primer or base coat to reduce moisture vapor transmission to levels that will allow application of 100% solids, non-permeable coatings and other floor coverings. Vapor Reduction LLC VREP-Primer provides an excellent base coat and may be applied to concrete surfaces that have cured for only 7 days. ADVANTAGES: 100% solids Low odor Not PH sensitive May be applied to concrete surface 7 days old Reduces moisture vapor transmission No flammability CURING: Standard set-allow to cure for minimum of 12 hours before top coating. SURFACE PREPARATION: Prior to the application of the VREP-Primer the concrete will have to be sound, clean, aptsorbtive .The concrete must also meet the ACI Committee 201 report "Guide to Durable Concrete." Any kind of surface contamination like adhesives, coatings, curing compounds, efflorescence, dust, grease, oils, etc., have to be removed completely by sand or shot blasting. Smooth formed concrete surfaces like precast panels must be roughened and absorptive to allow the VREP-Primer to penetrate. Acid etching or grinding as surface preparation is not recommended. |
Do not apply VREP-Primer to surfaces that have been treated with any kind
of concrete sealer prior to consulting with Vapor Reduction LLC. First make sure that the substrate surface does
not deteriorate due to the presence of sulphurous compounds encountered in certain areas. ONLY sound, clean and
free of any type of contamination surfaces are fit to receive the VREP-Primer.. If self-leveling underlayments are to be used for any reason, ALWAYS apply these systems ON TOP OF the VREP-Primer, never underneath. Consult with Vapor Reduction LLC first before using underlayments / repair mortars / and screeds. MIXING AND APPLICATION: Mix Part A with Part B at a ratio of 2.4 A to 1 B by volume. Immediately after mixing, pour mixture in ribbons over the pre-measured area to be coated. Spread the mixed material using a squeegee and/or a 3/8" nap roller. Coverage rate will depend on surface porosity and texture as well as the level of moisture vapor transmission. Coverage will vary from 70 to 130 square feet per gallon. <10 lbs/1000 sq.ft./24 hrs - 130 sq.ft/gal 10 - 15 lbs/1000 sq.ft./24 hrs - 100 sq.ft./gal Up to 25 lbs/1000 sq.ft/24 hrs - 70 sq.ft./gal When applied to very porous concrete, there may appear to be "outgasing " from displacement of air contained in voids by the resin. This will not affect the vapor reducing performance of the system. For a smooth surface, very lightly sand the surface before top-coating. LIMITATIONS: Do not apply when air and substrate temperature is below 500F or above 900F. Do not apply over gypsum floor underlayments. Do not apply to Latex modified mortar or concrete. Vapor Reduction LLC recommends the contractor does the necessary due diligence to test the floors for contamination. We will not be responsible for findings of contamination after the floor is put down! CLEAN UP: Clean tools and equipment immediately with a suitable solvent such as xylene or lacquer thinner.
